The chief NCO and Weapons Master of Carlyle's Commandos, Sergeant Kai "Griff" Griffith was directly responsible for Grayson Carlyle's training in BattleMech operations and combat.
Bald headed, with a drooping mustache, and a scar running from his jaw to right ear, he was regarded as an intimidating figure by his pupil and others around him.[1]
